Images of malnourished, emaciated lions at a Sudanese park have put an especially tragic face on the economic crisis gripping the African nation.

One of five lions at Al-Qureshi park in Khartoum died Monday after they had gone weeks without proper food or medicine, Agence France-Presse reported.
