‘Completely unexpected’: Male polar bear kills female during breeding attempt at Detroit Zoo

An attempt to foment life went terribly wrong at the Detroit Zoo when a male polar bear instead killed his partner on Monday while attempting to breed with her. Anana was 20. She and Nuka, 16, had lived together “without incident” since 2020.
