Pulse oximeters may not work as well on dark skin, leading to inaccurate readings on blood oxygen levels in COVID

The physics behind the technology in blood-oxygen gauges known as pulse oximeters may impede its ability to get accurate readings on people with darker skin, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
