Nicholas makes landfall in Texas as Category 1 hurricane before weakening to tropical storm

Nicholas swept into Texas as a powerful Category 1 hurricane in the early Tuesday before downgrading into a tropical storm, which is still expected to dump massive amounts of rain on the Lone Star state and the storm-battered Louisiana.
