Hero employee and U.S. Army veteran died tackling gunman in Safeway shooting: police

U.S. Army veteran Donald Ray Surrett Jr. served his country for 20 years and never saw combat, only to die in the produce aisle of a grocery store as he tried to stop a gunman who was strafing Safeway with an assault rifle.
